CRISL won the Asset Triple A Rating Agency of the Year Awards 2021/ CRISL awarded as Rating Agency of the Year by ASSET

Credit Rating Information and Services Ltd. (CRISL), the country’s first and pioneer rating agency, won the prestigious Rating Agency of the Year Award 2021 from Bangladesh by  “ The Asset”-a Hong Kong based Asia’s leading financial publication for issuers and investors.

This is for the third time CRISL won the award with two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021 and earlier in 2018 as  Best rating agency of Bangladesh. The other rating agencies that also received the awards this year under various categories are S&P global , Moody’s Investors Service, Fitch Ratings, SCOPE, KBRA , China Lianhe Credit Rating Company Ltd., MARC , PENGYUAN etc.

 

The award winning result has been published in the official website of  “The Asset”at  TheAsset.com. Due to covid-19, the annual awards ceremony will be held virtually and awards premiere will be broadcasted at 5.00 PM(HKT) on 22 March 2022 on TheAsset.com.
The Asset’s Triple A recognition represents the industry’s most prestigious awards for banking, finance, treasury, investing and the capital markets. The awards that encompass the performance across the community of issuers, investors and intermediaries was launched in 2015 in recognition of the role credit rating agencies play in the development of fixed income markets.

Over the years, credit rating agencies are attracting issuers who see the value these third-party assessments play in their funding strategy and in accessing the capital markets. In addition, the inclusion of ESG metrics, in line with the growing demand from asset owners and institutions, reflect rating agencies’ ability to respond to the markets’ changing needs.

The award criteria for rating agencies include transparency of ratings methodology, number of ratings conducted during the period, ratings by sector, ratings: review, upgrades/ downgrades, withdrawn,  rating switch, default  and stability rates, default recognition policy, surveillance process, methodologies applied for investor protection, number of investor outreach and education, number and types of industry papers issued, revision in rating criteria , policy on conflict of interest etc.

CRISL , the founder  sponsor member of Association of Credit Rating Agencies in Asia (ACRAA), started its journey in 1995 and later entered into joint venture with Duff and Phelps Credit Rating Company (DCR) in 1997 and went into equity participation agreement with Rating Agency Malaysia Berhad (RAM) and JCR-VIS Credit Rating Company of Pakistan in the same year.

Licensed by Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission in 2002 and later recognized by Bangladesh Bank as External Credit Assessment Institution in 2009 CRISL has proved itself as reliable, trusted and independent rating agency among different stakeholders both at home and abroad. Maintaining the highest ethical standard, professionalism and transparency since its inception CRISL has accomplished more than 51,000 rating assignments covering almost all economic sectors of Corporate, SMEs, Bank, NBFIs, Insurance , Merchant Bank, Brokerage Firm , Asset Management Firm etc.
